Rain," was selected as
one of the top ten entries and was performed by Katherine
Kay at
the annual awards show of the association. In 1992 Katherine Kay was presented the Horizon Award by
the Country Music Association of Alabama.
Katherine
Kay was the first regularly featured female singer on the
"Live at Libbys" radio show which was broadcast over five states by WBVR
101.3 FM. Katherine Kay show dates include appearances with the late Keith Whitly, Vern Gosdin,
Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee and many others. Katherine Kay has entertained audiences of over three
thousand people at various events sponsored by companies and organizations such as: U. S.
West, Frito Lay, IBM, Coors, Feed the Hungry Foundation and the National Lions Convention.
She has been featured on segments of CBS News "48 Hours," TNNs
"Country Today," WSMs "Morning Show," CBSs "Top of

Katherine Kay has worked and lived in Nashville since 1987,
maintaining house jobs at Skulls Rainbow Room, Barbaras and the Brass Rail in
Printers Alley. In 1991, Katherine Kay became the headliner at Gilleys on Music Row, and
in 1994, Gilleys opened a second location on Music Valley Drive where Katherine

Katherine
Kay is especially proud to be carrying on a family
tradition. Katherine Kay's grandfather, John Mitchell, was a fiddle player as was
Katherine Kay's father, Jack
Mitchell. Jack was a respected studio musician and was well known in the Carolinas for his
numerous radio shows and session work. Katherine Kay says that it is not enough to be related
to some talented or famous people in the music industry. "You get out of this
business what you put into it, and I give my music everything Ive got."
