JASON BOLAND AND THE STRAGGLERS DELIVER COUNTRY MUSIC’S MOST PULSATING ‘FEEL GOOD’ ANTHEM ON JUNE 6th!

Nashville - Jason Boland and The Stragglers, outlaw country music’s
famous sons, will release “My Baby Loves Me” (When I’m Stoned)
on June 6th off their new record
On
the road update: For more information, contact: RPR Marketing & Public Relations Visit Jason Boland & The Stragglers web site by clicking here. CONGRATULATIONS! Founded
in 1975 by Richard Weize,
ably assisted by partner (and financial administrator) Herman
Knulle, Bear Family is
a dream come true. It allowed Weize, whose enthusiasm for country
music was the driving force, “to
make a living out of a hobby”. He developed the art of reissues
and "will be remembered as the guru of the extra large CD box
sets and a fanatic for thoroughness." “It
gives me great pleasure to document something in its entirety" commented
Weize to journalist Michael Kleff, who notes it as an
aspect of "the manic compulsion of a collector to completely
possess the work of an artist". Richard Weize’s
addiction to completeness is not only realized by the recordings,
which frequently brings together both commercial releases and unissued
material, but also to his box set’s accompanying books, meticulously
researched and often running to over 100 pages, with the text
accompanying by rare photographs and full discographies. Over
the years Bear Family has amassed box sets on both the famous and the
not-so-well-known. These have included the complete recordings by the
pioneering icons the Carter
Family and Jimmie Rodgers,
Uncle Dave Macon and Tex
Ritter, Hank Snow, Louvin
Brothers and Lefty
Frizzell to the lesser familiar (well, to some record buyers) Blue
Sky Boys, Wilf Carter,
Dick Curless, Skeets
McDonald, Wesley Tuttle,
Charlie Walker and Johnny
Western. There’s also been massive sets by Bill
Clifton (the first person to have product released by Bear
Family), Ray Price, Hank
Thompson and Bob Wills
and occasional themed boxes by the likes of Johnny
Cash, Waylon Jennings,
Hank Locklin, Bill
Monroe, Willie Nelson,
Marty Robbins and Conway
Twitty. The list goes on and on and is certainly far too many to
list here. But Bear Family
has not just restricted its releases to country music, although
country does hold the winning hand. There’s also rockabilly, rock
‘n’ roll, postwar popular music artists, blues and, of course, a
number of native German singers. To
date Bear Family has issued around 300 box sets (some containing over
12 cds) and some 600 single/double cds. More recently it has also
moved into the realms of DVDs, allowing vintage country music to be
seen as well as heard, thus preserving even more of the heritage.
These have included material from the 1950s West Coast tv show Town
Hall Party and the 1960s r&b/soul series The Beat. To
commemorate the occasion, Bear
Family has issued a Special
30th Anniversary Box Set. Featuring a total of 32
tracks spread over 2 cds, all the recordings have a “bear” theme
(titles listed below). In addition there’s a DVD with a short
feature (German soundtrack) about Bear Family Records.
And, naturally, accompanying the music there’s the book, running to
108 full color pages and presenting a number of features relating to
the record label. These include articles on Richard Weize and others
who have assisted Bear Family; messages from artists; Top 10 listings;
details about the songs and artists featured on the CDs; and
reproductions of awards and press clippings. Congratulations

enriching the world with country music, much of which would never have
be heard otherwise. CD1
