SHOOTER JENNINGS - "ELECTRIC RODEO" - Released April 4th On Universal South

Shooter Jennings, the man who “Put the ‘O’ Back In Country” is back with his new album “Electric Rodeo”. The album was released on April 4th on Universal South Records. Following in his father Waylon’s footsteps, Shooter looks to rile up country music a bit, but “Electric Rodeo” is more than a rowdy country album.
Recorded and released in record time, Shooter Jennings’ debut, “Put The O Back In Country”, stealthily amassed critical and commercial acclaim. Now over 200,000 records sold and 130-plus shows played (and still counting!) later, “Electric Rodeo” delivers on the promise of “Country”… and then some.
From the heavy (“Electric Rodeo” and “Bad Magick”) to the mournful and sensitive (“Aviators” and “Some Rowdy Women”) to the sublime (“Gone To Carolina”) and ridiculous (“Alligator Chomp”) and all shades in between, “Electric Rodeo” is the kind of record that renders genders irrelevant. Give it a listen and keep the spirit of “Rust Never Sleeps” and “Street Survivors” alive…

A Message From Jerry Mac Concerning Shooter Jennings

All during the decade of the 90's, I was involved pretty much in a lot of shows in Nashville. I, at one time, was emceeing 4 shows a week at World Famous Barbara's in Printers Alley. Barbara's was the place where a lot of the folks in the music industry would hang out and come to jam. You might say Barbara's was a musician's bar. We had some of the greatest musicians in the world coming in and out of Barbara's, and I remember on more than one occasion when Shooter would be in there. I just want to express how happy I am that Shooter is doing so well. He deserves it. It's hard to live in the shadows of a man like Waylon, but Shooter has managed to do it quite well, My hat is tipped to you, Shooter.

Anita, Iowa..... "We travel all over the United States performing our old time music," says Sheila Everhart, wife of Bob Everhart, Smithsonian recording artist. "We just came back from a tour to South Texas, and drove through some of the devastated areas along the Gulf Coast. It's an absolute horror down there. We both realize a great deal of work has been done to set things right, but in some areas other than New Orleans, it looks like nothing has been done at all. Cars are still upside down in ditches, houses are still without roofs and abandoned, trash is everywhere, people are in desperate need of help, especially along the most seriously hit area in southern Mississippi."
The Everharts, who direct a large festival of old-time music in Missouri Valley, Iowa (the full week before Labor Day), passed the hat once during one of their performances last year, and were able to send over $1,000 to Gulfport, Mississippi, an area they know well from their performances at a bluegrass festival in Wiggins, Mississippi for the Sullivan Family. They sent the money to the Salvation Army in Jackson, because there was no postal service in Gulfport at that time. Now they want to raise more money to help some very desperate people along the Gulf Coast. With a little help from their friends, they may very well be able to send another $1,000 to some very needy folks.
According to Bob Everhart, "We have a small theater in Anita, Iowa, called the Oak Tree Opry. It will hold about 100 people, so we decided to do a Spring-Fest, April 21 and 22, doing shows at 7pm on Friday night, and two shows on Saturday at 2pm and 7pm. If we fill it up all three shows, we know we can raise some money. We've got some incredibly good entertainers to help us out, probably more than we need, but we never turn down offers of this kind. Anita is Exit-70 off of I-80, and very easy to get to. We have a beautiful lake with camping facilities, and a great steak house in town."
"On the program," according to Sheila, "are some of the best performers of old time country, bluegrass, and folk music in Mid-America. They are...."

Rick & Harriette Andersen from Underwood, Iowa, two back up artists, that have consistently played great old-time music. Harriette plays bass, and her husband Rick plays guitar and harmonica. They own R&H Recording Studios.

Tom & Nancy Wills Tom is a cousin to the famous Bob Wills, and strives to keep that style of western swing alive. Nancy plays bass, Tom plays guitar and sings.

Francis Hahn A former CIA agent who took up country music songwriting and performing when he retired. He has had several of his songs recorded by major recording artists.

Marge Lund A new singer in the midwest that has built a loyal fan base, a smooth singer, pleasant personality, and definitely a crowd pleaser.

Wilbur Foss A left handed fiddler, this Norse fiddler learned his craft from his great grandfather who played fiddle in Norway. Also president of the South Dakota Fiddlers

John Cox & Heartland This minister took a strong interest in old-time music and has pursued it with a passion through his ministry of the gospel.

Larry Harms Known as Missouri's best hillbilly singer, he comes from Branson, and many appearances at Silver Dollar City there.

Ervin Pickhinke An Iowa farmer, known as the "Singing Farmer" he has many CD recordings out and is a top seller in Iowa.

Jackie Shewey She performs a tribute show to her idol Patsy Cline, and is also active in the book publishing business, most notable a cook-book of local and regional country, bluegrass, and folk singers.

Rural Route String Band From Harlan, Iowa, it features a super-powerful 15 year old guitarist, Cory Jeter. Supported by his family and fellow musicians, this band is a leader in acoustic music in the midwest.

Peter, Paul, & Morrie From Omaha, Nebraska, this trio performs an older style of harmony folk singing, combined with natural humor.

Wild Iowa Rose A mother and her daughters carrying on the tradition of family harmony singing in the old Carter Family style, and many other older family groups.

Weezy Is a poor aimless woman (much in the style of Carol Burnett) who loses her way in just about everything she does. One of the midwest's most popular comedians.

One On The Mountain A band from West Virginia, making the trek to Iowa to especially help Bob & Sheila Everhart in their efforts to raise money for Katrina victims

Bob & Sheila Everhart Recording artists for the Smithsonian, one Grammy nomination, and over 30 recorded projects devoted to old-time American traditional music, and hosts of the program at the Oak Tree Opry in Anita, Iowa. They are also the Directors of the Pioneer Music Museum also located in Anita.

Tickets for the programs are $7 per show, or all three shows for $20. More information is available at 712-762-4363
