Universal Records (Distribted by Universal/MCA Records), has signed Len
Snow to a recording contract.
Len has finished a 12 song album in Nashville, Tennessee
with Grammy winning producers Robert Metzger and Tony Migliori.
Country star Len Snow, Jr.'s new album,
produced by veteran hit
maker
Robert Metzgar, honors Country Music Hall Of Fame legend, Hank Snow, with
a new single to be released to radio entitled, "Country's What I Choose."
Hollywood . Nashville . New York . Toledo, Ohio (PRWEB) March 10,
2006 -- In the early 50’s, Hank Snow discovered a young singer by the name
of Elvis Presley and took him on as an opening act. He later invited Elvis
to join him at the Grand Ole Opry and helped him find his manager, Colonel
Tom Parker. If Country Music Hall Of Fame member, Hank Snow, were alive
today, he would take great pride in introducing his living prodigy, Len
Snow, Jr., to the audience of the Grand Ole Opry. He might even introduce
him to a manager and take him on as an opening act in country music. One
thing’s for sure, Len Snow loves the history and the career of his hero,
Hank Snow, so often referred to as “The Singing Ranger” and the man who
still holds the record for the song “I’m Moving On” with more consecutive
weeks at number one in country music than any other song in the history of
the Billboard Hot Country Singles Charts. “Len Snow is one of those very
special artists, that you meet in country music who reminds you of the
country greats in our business. I first saw Len perform at a little
country music venue in Lewisburg, Tennessee. The only other two acts that
I saw perform there successfully were Garth Brooks and the Kentucky
Headhunters. Len Snow had that crowd begging for more. The owner told me
that after Len took his coat off and got down to his T-shirt that the club
did more business that night than in the history of the venue. Len Snow
will make you want to line dance all night, fall in love and miss work the
next day. He’s one of the most dynamic performers you will ever see in
person. If you are looking for a country artist that will fill your venue
and leave your customers satisfied, then Len Snow is the man to hire,”
says Legends Hall Of Fame Producer Robert Metzgar. See

Nashville caught up with Len on his way to his CD Release party in Toledo,
Ohio and interviewed him for Clear Channel Radio’s “New Artist’s Who Have
Hit It Big At Country Radio” program.
Q: How did you get started in country music?
A: I grew up with eight kids in my family. My mom was finished
having all those kids by the time she was 34. I didn’t have any money
growing up, so our big highlight was watching Dallas on television, eating
pizza and drinking Pepsi. What a life we had. My life parallels the life
of my hero, Hank Snow. I started playing at the Michigan Tavern in
Temperance, Michigan. Herb Score sold me my first guitar and my career
just started working “live” dates anywhere I could find them. I went from
way up north, to California just like Hank and finally wound up in
Nashville at the advice of Grammy winning Producer Dennis Kahn. He told me
to go talk to Robert Metzgar and see if Mr. Metzgar would help me get
started.
It costs a lot of money to record an album, get it manufactured and
then do a video, promote it and get yourself started in country music
today. Somehow my friend in California, Dennis Kahn, knew that Robert was
just golden to the bone. He said Robert would help me get my career off
the ground. Mr. Metzgar agreed to produce my first album, “Country’s What
I Choose.” I dedicated that song to my hero, Hank Snow. With the average
country album today costing over a hundred and fifty thousand dollars, you
have to have label support and Platinum Plus Universal Records has helped
me more than I can say.
Q: Are you a songwriter yourself?
A: Yes, I am the sole writer of all the songs on my current album.
I look back on my influences and so many artists influenced my
songwriting. Elvis Presley, John Denver, Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks,
Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson,
Jimmie Rodgers, Johnny Cash, James Taylor, The Beatles, Alabama, Lone
Star, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts and my all time favorite of course,
Hank Snow. Hank continued to delve back into his repertoire to resurrect
old songs for new audiences. To him repertoire was a living thing, and his
sense of tradition was as sharp and keen as that of any artist today. Hank
Snow was elected into the country music hall of fame in 1979 and that is
exactly where I’d like to be when I finish my career. Hank Snow had 85
Billboard singles, 65 Top-40 Billboard hits, 43 Top-10 hits and seven
times the angel touched his shoulder with #1 Billboard hits. See

I love the careers of Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, Clint
Black, Vince Gill, Dave Dudley, Carl Smith, The Bellamy Brothers, Johnny
Paycheck, T. G. Sheppard, Ricky Skaggs, John Conlee, Mel Tillis, Roy
Clark, Steve Wariner, Don Williams, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakum, Rodney
Crowell, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Gene Watson, Earl Thomas Conley, The
Oak Ridge Boys, Bill Anderson, Tom T. Hall, Vern Gosdin, Porter Wagoner,
Chet Atkins, Roy Acuff, and Bill Monroe as well. All of these great
entertainers have influenced me in one way or the other.
Q: Who are some of your favorite female entertainers that have
influenced your career?
A: I love Lori Morgan, Shania Twain, Reba, Nora Jones, Trisha
Yearwood, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Wynonna, Tammy Wynette, Loretta
Lynn, Carol Lee and The Carol Lee Singers, Dolly Parton, Suzy Bogus, Deana
Carter, Terri Clark, Crystal Gayle, Faith Hill, Patty Loveless, Jo Dee
Messina, Kathy Mattea, LeAnn Rimes, Pam Tillis, Lee Ann Womack, Alison
Krauss and Chely Wright. I have always listened to June Carter Cash, and
some of the best country music today comes from Carrie Underwood, Lila
McCann, Jamie O’Neal, Miranda Lambert, Shelly Fairchild and Jenny True.
You have to love a woman who can take command of 145,000 screaming cowboys
at Fan Fair. These are very strong women who deserve our respect and
admiration.
Q: How would you feel about entertaining the troops abroad?
A: I am ready to go on the next USO tour tomorrow. I would like to
follow in my hero’s footsteps. Hank Snow sang for the troops in Korea,
Vietnam, and performed in Germany, Norway and all across Europe for the
American soldier. I have supported the men and women of our Armed Forces
since I was old enough to remember. I can remember listening to Hank’s
song, “Hello Love,” when I was just a kid. He was 61 years old when he
recorded that song and he is the oldest country performer to ever have a
#1 Billboard hit in country music.
Q: Where is your CD Release concert going to be held in Toledo?
A: My album will be out on the street in just a few days, and it
will be available for my CD Release party. The party and concert will be
held as follows:
Tuesday March 21st, 2006
Nashville's Saloon 1260 W. Alexis Road Toledo, OH 43619 Call: 419-869-0303
Time: 8:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight Tickets:
www.ticketweb.com
Q: Is the concert open
to the public?
A: Yes, and I’m inviting all my hometown friends to come join me
and the band for some of the greatest toe-tapping, boot scooting, line
dancing country music you will ever hear. I have a picture in my mind of
the man I want to be in the future. I try and catch up to that image every
day with the way I lead my life. My goals are set very high and all my
fans are what makes each and every night’s performance the kind of night
it ought to be for me. I look forward to seeing all of them at my concert
in Toledo, Ohio.
