Dave Weigand to Head Up Sales & Marketing

   NASHVILLE, TN (October 5, 2004)– Jeff Huskins, President/CEO, Vivaton Records has announced an integral addition to the Executive Staff.
Dave Weigand   Dave Weigand officially joins the Vivaton staff as Executive VP of Sales & Marketing. Formerly of MCA Records, Weigand has more than 20 years experience in Marketing and Sales. Weigand worked under the Universal Music Group umbrella, spending the last 15 years under the MCA-Nashville arm. His sales and marketing expertise ranges from acting as local sales representative for Universal Distribution to heading up the marketing and sales department of MCA Nashville as their Sr. VP OF Marketing and Sales. Weigand has been instrumental in the career development of George Strait, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Womack, Mark Chesnutt and Gary Allan. During his tenure at MCA Nashville, the label was named Label of the Year for the entire decade of the 90’s by Billboard and R&R.
   Dave Weigand reunites with Shelia Shipley Biddy. Biddy and Weigand initially spent fifteen years working together at MCA Records-Nashville.
   Finalizing his decision, Jeff Huskins elaborates: "Dave Weigand has been a major player in the country music industry for twenty plus years. His expertise is a necessary element to this label’s structure to enable Vivaton to be competitive. Dave Weigand has an ear for good music and we are pleased to have him on board.”
   Dave Weigand adds, “Vivaton is an aggressive independent label. The staff is comprised of a group of individuals with a deep-rooted passion for good music, personal integrity, commitment to the artists, and knowledge of the music.    Vivaton officially opened its doors with a fully staffed national and regional promotion department February 2, 2004. The first album project released under the Vivaton imprint was recorded by Mark Chesnutt, SAVIN’ THE HONKY TONK—September 21, 2004.

   KEITH URBAN's new album Be Here has debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart in America, his first country singer, Keith Urbannumber one album in the United States.
The album debuted on the broader Billboard 200 albums chart making it the third highest selling album in America for the week.
   In Australia, Be Here debuted at number one on the Australian Country Charts and 11 on the broader Top 100.
   The debut single from the album – Days Go By – meanwhile has spent its fourth week at the top of the Billboard Country Singles Chart in America after 15 weeks in. It has risen as high as 31 on the broader American pop singles chart.
   Be Here sold 148,000 copies in its first week of release in America.
   Keith's Golden Road album remains in the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, at number nine after almost two years in the chart.
