World Famous Barbara's
In World Famous Printer's Alley
Nashville, TN

By Jerry Mac

There use to be a place in World Famous Printer's Alley called Barbara's. It was the place where so many country music singers and musicians would come when they were not on the road. In other words, it was a real musicians hangout. There never was before then and never will be again a place quite like Barbara's. I had the pleasure of emceeing shows there back in the 90's. Barbara was the kind of club owner that did her best to give the up and coming musicians and singers in Nashville a place to showcase their talent. You never knew who you were going to see in Barbara's on any given night, so, therefore you would, also, see a lot of country music fans in there that had heard about the place. The regular folks would come for many reasons. Once they came, they stayed, because there was no other place in Nashville or anywhere else where you could hear such great real country music.
Just a few of the folks that would frequent Barbara's were Tanya Tucker, Toby Keith, Hank Williams, Jr.,  Mark Chesnutt, , Brad Martin, Marty Haggard, Noel Haggard, and Bonnie Owens just to mention a few. I even had the pleasure of introducing Tom Jones from stage one night. There were so many hit songwriters in there on any given night that it's hard to believe they were all there, but, after all, they had to have a place to go, too, and they all loved Barbara's, because Barbara made them all feel at home.
I just listened to a song off of Mark Chesnutt's new CD that got me to thinking about Barbara's. The name of the song is "Somebody Save The Honky Tonks".
Click on Play to listen. Click on the song title to order the CD. The song just got me to thinking about how great it would be if some things just never changed. I miss the Honky Tonks, and I miss Barbara's.

Newgrass Review
"Little Black Train" Top 5 In Bluegrass Charts
Since April, 2004

Newgrass Review is "The Only" bluegrass group to have a song, "Little Black Train", in the Top 5 list, other than the Song, "Man Of Constant Sorrow".
Little Black Train has been in the Top 5 in the bluegrass charts since April
2004. And of course like Man Of Constant Sorrow. Maybe Newgrass Review will never get the recognition 'till we appear in a movie, but we are having fun
and playing good music. We will be cutting a new album this coming month, if it
goes as planned, with some dynamite songs by some of Nashville's premier
songwriters, as well as some of our own. Hold on to your seat for this album!
We love our freinds, family, fans and the USA.

KC "Band leader Of Newgrass Review"

KC will be performing live on channel 75 which is nationally televised, on
September 29th, also second week of October date TBA.

Message from KC & Newgrass Review

We would like to take this time to personally thank our personal friends
we love dearly: Jo Crowe of Crowe Entertainment "The Best" song plugger and Artist Development company in Nashville. Also Tom Devine one of my dearest and closest friends.

Message from Jerry Mac

I want to 2nd what KC & Newgrass Review said about Jo Crowe and Tom Devine. I know them both very well, and each of them have a personal endorsement from me. If you are a new artist, you can't go wrong with getting yourself and/or your music in the hands of these 2 well seasoned music professionals.

Country Music News From Down Under
"Katrina’s On Top Of The world"

September 21, 2004

The Pub Management’s latest signing as an artist in development KATRINA BURGOYNE NASHVILLE SONG SEARCH HONOURS - TAMWORTH CAMERTAhas been named in the top four songwriters under 18 in the international Nashville Song Search.
Sixteen-year-old Katrina Burgoyne, from Gunnedah, NSW, and fellow Tamworth Camerata* graduate Shandell Tosoni, from Queensland, are the two Australians placed in the top four of the quest, which drew 1800 entries from young writers all over the world.
Shandell was placed first and will travel to Nashville to accept her award and perform on the awards show later this year.

Meanwhile, Katrina has entered her second year of tuition with the NSW Education Department’s Talent Development Project.
At 16, Katrina was too young to graduate from the course which involves travel to Sydney once a month for workshops and performance opportunities with leading Australian musicians from all fields.
She will now benefit from a further 12 months of study, learning from the best and following her dream of becoming a professional singer-songwriter.

Tamworth Camerata is a five-day country music school for youth held each July, in the Australasian Country Music Capital.

Texas Recording Artist Sammy Sadler
Renews Commitment To The National Organization of Victims’ Rights

Nashville, TN (September 29, 2004) – Texas recording artist Sammy Sadler has renewed his commitment to the National Organization of Victims’ Rights (NOVA). Sadler attended the 30th Annual North American Victim Assistance Conference held in Sacramento last month, where he spoke and performed – and accepted an offer to serve, once again, as a national spokesperson for the group. He’s already booked for the National conference in Atlanta next August and will make appearances on behalf of the organization throughout 2005.
Sadler knows better than anyone the toll that crime can take on its victims. A survivor of 1989’s infamous "Murder On Music Row" (profiled last week on A & E Television’s COLD CASE FILES), Sammy worked for years to overcome the effects of the attack. "It was a life-changing event," says the soft-spoken singer. "It was a long hard road, but I fought my way back."
It is a fight that Sammy has clearly won. His debut CD, HARD ON A HEART, was released earlier this year to critical acclaim and phenomenal fan support. He has enjoyed two Top 15 Texas Music Chart singles ("I Know A Place" and "Hard On A Heart"), been featured in the national publications Country Weekly and Country Music Today, major newspapers in  Dallas, Houston, Little Rock , Nashville, San Antonio, Tulsa, and toured extensively throughout the summer.
